Digitalization of the Corpus of Minoan and Mycenaean Seals
The project is conducted in a cooperation of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz and the Marburg Academy “Corpus of Minoan and Mycenaean Seals” under the scientific supervision of the Commission of Archaeology of the Mainz Academy.
The Corpus of Minoan and Mycenaean Seals, published in 1958 and only in print, which forms the scientific edition of several seals from the aegaean bronze age, is supposed to be digitalized, updated and presented without cost in the internet by the year 2011. In accordance with the last volume CMS XIV on the typology and the index of all volumes, which is the most important part of the entire series, the most important topics of seal research are presented. The CMS will be integrated into a modern and internationally well presented information network which also severs migration, completion and sustainability in order to ensure the ability to work with the material through the addition of new finds and the possibility for further research.
