Processing of the Coins found in Xanten

In Cooperation with the Archaeological Park Xanten, the LVR-Bureau of Ground Monument Conversation and the Romano-Germanic Commission Frankfurt

The ancient coins of Roman Xanten are one of the groups of ojects that have not been made accessible in the form of a comprehensive compendium except for a few single examples. The aim of the project funded by the LVR-Archaeological Park Xanten / LVR-RomanMuseum is a documentation of all coins from Xanten, which follows the systematics of the series “Coins of Roman Time in Germany (FMRD)”. The basis is made up of the coins in the LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn and the LVR-Archaeological Park Xanten / LVR-RomanMuseum. The focus will first be on the coins found on the area of the Colonia Ulpia Traiana. Afterwards, an evaluation of this source is to be done.
