In spite of the long German research tradition in the capital of the Attalids, Pergamon, the hellenistic-roman necropoles of the city have only been investigated unsystematically. The University of Cologne, in cooperation with the German Archaeological Institute Istanbul, aims to document and analyze the finds and structural remains of older excavations. A monographical publication is to be given. These studies are supervised by Dr. Ute Kelp and financed by the German Research Foundation.
