As a part of the DFG-ANR special program for funding of German-French cooperations, the Archaeological Institute Cologne and the Centre d‘Études Alexandrines conducts an interdisciplinary project on the research and analysis of Hellenistic and Roman pottery from Egypt. Based on the stratified pottery finds from earlier German-French excavations in Alexandria, Schedia and Marea, systematic ceramological and scientific investigations are conducted. The results will be made accessible through an internet-based reference database and will form a basis for further questions on economy. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation and the Agence Nationale de la Recherche. The first phase of the project was from 2010 to 2014 and is directly continued by the CERAMEGYPT project.
